The Boomer who probably drank a few beers before falling asleep to AC/DC

The Boomer…that son of a bitch…always listening to ’70s and ’80s music, banging his head, annoying everyone around them, drinking beers and Monsters, not caring what is going on around him…yeah, that dude.

I wanted to keep talking about society in the manifestation of memes unironically like a professor at a college (Ayy Harvard, if you need a professor in Memeology, hit me up). This is because I just find it so interesting with these sets of fresh memes. The Bloomer, the Doomer, the Zoomer, the Go-Getter, Pepe…

And yes, this smug dude. The Boomer.

Who is the Boomer?

The “30-year-old Boomer”, or just simply the “Boomer”, is the one meme whose claim to fame is either being unlike the younger millennials or just being very much disconnected from what is going on around him. Unlike the Bloomer, who is blissfully ignorant within his own happiness, the Boomer is either plainly unaware of what takes place when he is present, or he just doesn’t care.

He’ll be the guy talking about Trump like he’s a God to “piss off libtards” while blasting Hall and Oates’s song “Out of Touch” ironically from his boat while others are trying to enjoy some piece and quiet out on the lake. He doesn’t give a shit as long as good times are had.

This is the type of stuff I’m talking about, folks.

What are they like in society?

The Boomer flirts constantly with the line between what society expects from him and what he shouldn’t be. This type of person would have fit in with Generation X nearly flawlessly, only lacking in political involvement and activism. Sure, the Boomer might vote Trump, but in my estimation, it’s more for the memes than anything else.

Boomers are at face value either the cool uncle that’s single with no kids and a hot girlfriend or the badass aunt who goes out with bikers to get her kicks on the weekends. These guys are party hardy and very much the opposite of the Doomer.

Whereas the Boomer pays attention, has an intelligence complex that could be destructive, and has a negative view on society and humanity overall, these guys are too busy either talking about the days when they trolled campers on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or playing Runescape unironically to pay attention. And usually, they choose to do so, because why dwell on the negativity when you could have fun and ignore the problems instead?

Are Boomers the Problem Within Modern Society?

The thing about Boomers is that their ignorance is their greatest issue. The Bloomer is blissfully ignorant, as in they know the problems with society but stay optimistic about life. The Boomer is neither optimistic nor pessimistic. They aren’t even realistic either. They’re…just sort of there.

I think of Boomers as sort of comedians or celebrities at face value: Fun, entertaining, hilarious, even cool at times…but past that facade of awesomeness is their annoying ways over time and their lack of societal awareness by choice. They will either have fun with you for the sake of good times, or be the one making fun of you for the sake of the memes.

So are Boomers the problem within modern society? In a way, yes. Their fun isn’t really hurting anyone per se. However, they’re more of a negative hindrance rather than a positive influence. Their lack of caring and their low-key narcissism doesn’t progress society nor regress it. It keeps it the same, and most people wouldn’t be alright with that.
