The Bloomer: A Meme that Society Should Strive to Be

A few months back, I decided just for the heck of it to make a silly article about the Doomer meme. I was not expecting much from it.

As of October 10th, 2019, it’s nearing a thousand views and has received a few claps. (Thanks to everyone for this. I really appreciate it.)

Anyway, I talked before about the Doomer and their harsh opinions on a society that became the breeding ground for their nihilistic outlook on their lives and humanity as a whole. However, the Bloomer is the polar opposite.

The Bloomer can be seen in two ways. At first, the Bloomer looks more like he is indulging in their ignorant bliss a little bit too much. They seem a little bit more happy-go-lucky than the normal person. However, another way to look at it is that he is deciding to engage in optimism in the face of dark times.

Because of this, when I look at the Bloomer, I see two different types of people: The pre-Doomer, the one who doesn’t know what real life is like (teens, students just entering college), and the post-Doomer, who has gone through tough times, but realizes there is more to life than sticking to the status quo.

The post-Doomer is what I’d like to mainly focus on for the sake of this article.

Happy Bloomer

I mean, just look at that smiling face! How can that not make your day?

Ahem…anyway, the post-Doomer version of the Bloomer is the type of person that society should strive to be. These types of Bloomers have realized, “You know what? Life is hard. Life sucks. Life is not fair. But I’m not letting that affect me.” Check out this cool video including the transformation of the Doomer to a Bloomer.

The post-Doomer stage Bloomer is the epitome of the optimist. These types of people are well-aware that society is looking grim right now. But what separates them from the Doomers is that they choose positivity.

The pre-Doomer Bloomer doesn’t know that fact yet. In fact, society hasn’t effected this young Bloomer. The Bloomer’s problems are very personal, although they’re just as valid as those of the Doomer. They haven’t gotten to the coming-of-age point in their lives. These are usually high schoolers too busy wondering if they should ask out that boy or girl, or they are questioning whether they’ll really be using the Pythagorean Theorem as often as their teachers make it seem.

The Bloomers are the go-getters of society. Instead of complaining about it, they either ignore it all, shut it out, and do their own thing, or they actively try to change their lives and society itself for the betterment of their own mental health or that of their fellow humans. They are the Gary Vaynerchucks and the Elon Musks of the world. They follow their heart’s desires and push on with heavy optimism despite the trial and errors or the status quo.

The Doomer has many reasons to be angry as society, especially as it is today due to the political, economical, social, and general climate of the world. People are more divided than ever. However, the Bloomer is the solution to this problem.

The world needs more positivity and goodness than ever before. Humanity is splitting itself apart. The Bloomer sees this, and makes their impact on the world by simply being themselves no matter what anyone or anything tells them to do. Whether they’re the up-and-coming entrepreneur, the self-made musician, the volunteer at the soup kitchen, or the hard working go-getter at whatever they choose to do with their lives, the Bloomer is the meme that society should use as a template for what it should strive to become again.
